Pinguicula medusinaPinguicula medusina is a perennial heterophyllous species that produces glandular carnivorous leaves during summer and a subterranean bulb during winter. These butterworts are found on gypsum hills at Laguna Encantata, about 3km north from Santiago Juxtlahuaca in the state of Oaxaca. Pinguicula medusina was discovered by Alfred Lau in 1977, but was given species status in 2000. Pinguicula medusina is closely related to Pinguicula heterophylla.
