The Story of MoondogThis is the last of the Moondog "jazz" albums on Prestige put together from a number of home sessions and street recordings the blind itinerant musician had done sometime in the mid '50s. As avant garde as this stuff is, it still has a gritty street cred that is very appealing. At the same time, Moondog's homespun ensembles and rudimentary polyrhythms sound like a kindergarten music recess innocents cavorting on the Bowery or the waterfront. THE STORY
